Float Your Yoga Practice this Summer!

2023 SUP Yoga Classes offered by Prana Yoga Center

These 90 minute classes begin with a brief on-land paddle and safety instruction. We’ll take a short paddle to warm up to get accustomed to the movement and balance of the board. After that, we’ll clip each board to an anchoring system and begin the class. Our SUP Classes are Open Level with options for beginners and more challenging options for those with a bit more experience.

*Classes are BYOB—Bring Your Own Board and paddle although there are 2 spots for board rental in each class.

FAQs

What is SUP Yoga?

Stand Up Paddle (SUP) Yoga is a fun, innovative and challenging new way to energize and transform your regular yoga practice. Classes normally take place while floating on calm waters or small waves (ocean, lake, river, or urban waterway) while balancing on sturdy paddle boards. It is often practiced in serene settings with natural landscape backdrops.

What are the benefits of SUP Yoga?

Among a myriad of benefits, SUP yoga practice is great for establishing strength in the shoulders, back, legs, and core while increasing one’s focus and concentration. And, falling into the water is fun and encouraged!

What should I wear? What should I bring?

Wear anything that you feel comfortable moving and swimming in: a bathing suit, shorts or capri yoga pants, a sports bra, rash guard or t-shirt. Make sure that all of your clothing is made of quick drying material that you don’t mind getting wet! Hats are OK too. You may need bug spray especially for savasana. A water bottle is recommended. You can leave your flip flops on the beach or strap them to the boards with your bungee. Bring a towel and a change of clothing for after class, but leave all personal items in the car.

Do I need to bring my own board?

Yes, Please! We do have 2 board rentals available per class, but they go quickly!

Can I do this?

No experience is necessary. However, you must be able to swim.
