Introduction to Inversions with Christy Linson

Are you new to inversions or wanting to refine your skills?

In this 4 week workshop, we will prepare for and workshop the four main inversions:
Shoulderstand (Salamba Sarvangasana), Headstand (Sirsasana), Forearm Balance (Pinca Mayurasana), and Handstand (Adho Mukha Vrksasana)

Each week will include:
• A specific sequence to warm up all of the component parts of that week’s inverted posture
• Step by step instructions and demonstration of the featured pose as well as a discussion of the benefits
• Preparatory postures and modifications to make the stronger elements of the pose accessible to students of all levels and experience
• Handouts for home and continued study

For yoga instructors:
Receive 1.5 hours of CEUs per class

If you are considering the Aligned Flow® 200 hour teacher training in January, this is an excellent opportunity to get an experience of how the training will be conducted and to get a head start on learning to understand and teach inversions.

Adventures in Community

An experience of fun, exploration and connection

Community only occurs through meaningful interactions and experiences. This half day program will be a catalyst to further the Prana community beyond the mat. This workshop will offer an experience of Adventure based activities that include cooperative games and problem solving initiatives. Through the use of reflection, dialogue, and inquiry, these activities become metaphors for our lives. This experiential learning process offers participants an opportunity to explore and share their strengths in a safe and supportive environment.

Hopeful Outcomes:

  • Meaningful connections and new friendships
  • Self-discovery and learning
  • Stress reduction, fun and lots of laughter
  • Creation of service projects by the Prana community to give back

Location: Prana Yoga Center.

Jeffrey M. Brandler has worked with individuals, couples and families for the past 33 years. He has maintained a successful private practice in Mountain Lakes NJ. Mr. Brandler holds a BS degree in Psychology from Penn State University, an MA degree in Counseling Psychology from Towson State University, and an EdS degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Seton Hall University. He also holds certifications as an Addictions Specialist (CAS) and as a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP). He has recently obtained hypnosis training from the prestigious Milton Erickson Foundation in Phoenix Arizona and is certified as a National Board Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist (NBCCH).

An Evening of Bansuri Flute

Sundar Das is a Grammy Nominated Bansuri flute player who has accompanied Kirtan Wallahs including Krishna Das, Shyam Das, Wah, David Newman (Durga Das) & Mira and Jai Uttal. Sundar composes soundtracks for multimedia yoga programs and for film and plays live music for yoga classes in NYC. Teachers throughout the USA use his music in class. He has also performed at Buddhist and Yoga benefit gatherings and retreats. Sundar Das has been practicing Yoga and Devotional Chanting since 1971 and lived in an ashram for 16 years both in the US and in India where composing, playing and recording music was his selfless service.

Backbends, Stability & Space

Backbends require flexibility where most of us are tight and stability where most of us are weak. This workshop is designed to help you identify patterns of compensation in your back-bending practice, giving you the knowledge and support you need to move through obstacles instead of around them. Through innovative prop work, careful sequencing, and thoughtful partner exercises, you will build the strength to move into backbends with more intelligence and ease.
